Scenic Splendor of the Three Gorges

The two main appeals for making a river tour of the Three Gorges are the spectacular scenery and the opportunity to see the massive dam. The waters started backing up in 2003. I'm sure many worthy sights have been drowned already. All the beautiful farm country we were lucky to see will be gone. However, it is clear that even when the flooding is complete, there will still be awesome sights in the Three Gorges. My complaint was the horrible air pollution and/or overcast, which often rendered the sights nearly invisible. It galled me to have to purchase a locally produced photo book to see scenes I should have been able to see with my own eyes!
